Read our privacy informationReduce PDF file size while keeping visual quality
Best Quality applies lossless data compression and compact PDF storage without lowering image resolution. Text, vector graphics, and original image detail remain intact. Compare the original and download sizes before saving.
Already compressed documents may have little room for savings. Balanced and Maximum Compression can shrink eligible RGB or grayscale images using JPEG compression and resizing; these options may reduce fine detail. Unsupported image types retain their original data. The tool keeps your original if the result would be larger.
Common questions
Can I compress a PDF without losing quality?
Best Quality uses lossless compression and does not recompress or resize images. It cannot guarantee a smaller file, especially for already optimized scans.
Will my text still be selectable?
Yes. Compression preserves PDF text and vector elements instead of converting whole pages into images.
Can I compress a PDF to an exact size such as 200 KB?
There is no guaranteed target size. Savings depend on the original file. Check the size shown after processing and choose an image compression mode only if reduced image detail is acceptable.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Compression runs locally in your browser. PDFs up to 100 MB are supported; large or complex files may exceed device memory. Signed PDFs need an unsigned copy because rewriting invalidates digital signatures.
